Basic Recruit Academy

The Basic Fire Recruit Academy is offered in the Fall, Spring and Summer and meets the minimum educational requirements to be a certified combat firefighter in the State of Florida. Upon successful completion, the student is eligible to take the state written and practical examination administered by the Bureau of Fire Standards and Training. Prior to admission, students must have completed the EMT or Paramedic training program and passed the State/national certification exam.
 
This program meets the minimum educational requirements for an individual to be a certified combat firefighter in the State of Florida. Upon successful completion of this training program, the student is eligible to take the state written and practical examination administered by the Bureau of Fire Standards and Training. Prior to admission, students must complete the Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic training program. Graduates of the program typically find employment as firefighters.
